Hydrogen OSCH has found widespread use in the metallurgical industry, as well as in the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector. Additionally, high-purity hydrogen is used:
- As a carrier gas and reducing agent in the electronics industry;
- As the mobile phase in gas chromatography;
- As a component of special welding mixtures, and sometimes for cutting metal;
- In petrochemical production processes;
- For hydrogenating animal and vegetable fats;
- As a detectable element in leak tests of installations;
- In high-energy non-chain HF(DF) lasers;
- In burners for processing synthetic gemstones and glass;
- For flame analyzers in laboratories;
- For reduction processes of metals from oxides.
Hydrogen, according to the international road transport agreement (ADR), has a hazard class of 2. When in contact with air, hydrogen forms an explosive substance – detonating gas. Transport of hydrogen cylinders is carried out lying down with spacers between cylinders, or standing up with strapping. Transporting hydrogen and oxygen together is strictly prohibited.
Delivery is made in steel cylinders that meet GOST requirements, with volumes of 5, 10, and 40 liters – 150 bar.
Hydrogen is stored in cylinders in small quantities. For larger volumes, underground storage is used.
