Silane gas (SiH4, hydrogen silicon, silicon hydride, monosilane) is a binary inorganic compound of silicon with hydrogen.
- colorless gas with an unpleasant odor
- toxic
- self-ignites in air
- reacts with water
- does not dissolve in ethanol or benzene
Silane gas, silicon hydride, is used as a source of silicon in semiconductor production, as a hydrogen source in chemical reactions. In addition, it is necessary for the creation of crystalline and thin-film photovoltaic converters based on silicon, liquid crystal displays, substrates, and technological layers of integrated circuits.
ADR Class 2F. Transportation is carried out in accordance with the international agreement on the transport of dangerous goods ADR, observing all safety measures. When storing and transporting silane gas, fire resistance must be ensured, as the substance is pyrophoric. Do not use near open flame, avoid the generation of sparks.
