Vinyl chloride (chlorethylene, chloroethene, ethylene chloride) is an organic substance; colorless gas with a weak sweetish odor, having the formula C2H3Cl and being the simplest chlorinated derivative of ethylene.

This substance is extremely fire- and explosion hazardous, it emits toxic substances during burning.

  • Colorless gas with a faintly sweet odor
  • Extremely flammable and explosive
  • Releases toxic substances when burning. Strong poison
  • Slightly soluble in water
  • Easily soluble in alcohol

Vinyl chloride is mainly used for the production of polyvinyl chloride and for the decomposition of copolymers. It is used as a raw material for the production of vinylidene chloride and methyl chloroform.

If cylinders are lying horizontally, they must be secured to prevent rolling. Recommended arrangement scheme for cylinders during road transport: near the front wall perpendicular to the direction of travel, in the remaining part of the body — lengthwise or across, valve towards the center.

It is preferable to transport cylinders in an open body or ensure ventilation of the space. Stabilized vinyl chloride in packages should be transported in a closed body or under a tarpaulin to prevent wetting. A vehicle with air exchange between the cargo compartment and the cab is not suitable.

Pure nitrogen is dangerous when transporting
